Rubber Duckie Baby Shower

I had to come up with a baby shower theme that was more or less gender neutral, as I was tasked with organizing one for two of my good friends, one who was having a boy and one a girl. Rubber duckie was the theme I decided to go for. Although its a joint baby shower, I wanted them to feel special, as if they were having their own baby shower. I am a strong believer that each mom deserves a nice baby shower as carrying a baby is not an easy task. Decorations on the table were split into two colors, left side of the table carries items in baby blue while the other side in baby pink. For the baby diaper carriage, you can refer to this tutorial.

Decorating Your Rubber Duckie Cookies
What you need:
What To Do:
  1. I started with a basic sugar cookies dough and cut them out with the rubber duckie cookie cutter.
  2. Bake and let cookies cool.
  3. Outline cookies (except the beak) with yellow icing with #2 tip and let it dry.
  4. Outline and fill the beaks with orange icing with #2 tip and let it dry.
  5. Flood cookies with yellow icing.
  6. Once you have filled the cookies with yellow icing you will need to let it dry completely. It’s ideal to let it dry overnight but if time is tight, you should let it sit for at least 4 hours otherwise the colors can bleed.
  7. Draw a dot with black icing for the eyes.
If you need to control cost, you may want to try searching some of the items from Taobao. The rubber duckies were purchased from Taobao for RMB 5 a set (1 mother duck and 3 baby ducks). A set from the toy shop may cost you 6 – 7 times the price.
