Impress Your Guests With Homemade Falafel

Last week I experimented on a very popular Middle Eastern appetizer – hummus – and this week I will be showing you how to make Falafel. It is very popular in the Middle East as fast food. This can be served as an appetizer on salad, or with hummus and tahini. As a main dish, it is served as a sandwich, stuffed in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes and tahini. This recipe is really simple and can surely impress your guests.



What You Need:

  • 2 cups chickpeas
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons of fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 teaspoon coriander (optional)

What To Do:


1. Soak chickpeas in cold water overnight. Dra

in the water. Boil chickpeas in fresh water for 5 minutes then let simmer in low for another hour. Drain water and allow to cool.
2. Mash chickpeas and combine garlic, onion, cumin, salt, pepper (to taste) in medium.
3. Form mixtures into small balls, about size of a ping pong ball.
4. Fry in oil until golden brown.
