SweetPrints: Halloween Signage & Paper Witch Hats

It’s Halloween tomorrow! Halloween is a great time to get creative. The various festive activities such as trick-or-treating, dressing up in costumes and pumpkin carving are all opportunities to show off your creative side. For this month’s SweetPrints collaboration, we have picked up a bunch of goodies from Prints to make a Trick or Treat signage and some paper witch hat candy wrappers.

What You Need:

  • A black pop-up photo frame (from Prints)
  • A sheet of black paper (from Prints)
  • A sheet of orange paper (from Prints)
  • Glittery alphabet stickers (from Prints)
  • A flying witch punch (from Prints)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Cutter

What To Do:

1. Pop by a Prints store and pick up some materials for your D.I.Y. Signage. Prints has a big selection of different colored frames and paper, and to go with the Halloween theme I am sticking with the black and orange. I found these super cool glittery alphabet stickers, and so I have decided to make the background all black such that the “Trick or Treat?” words would really pop.

2. Trim your piece of black paper to fit into the frame.

3. Punch out some flying witches using a punch.

4. Decorate your frame using alphabet stickers and the flying witches. I stuck the flying witches on using double-sided tape. A great thing about using double-sided tape here is that that they can be removed afterwards and you can actually put your frame to another use once Halloween is over.

What You Need:

  • A sheet of black paper (from Prints)
  • A sheet of orange paper (from Prints)
  • A thin black ribbon (from Prints)
  • A thin orange ribbon (from Prints)
  • Stars stickers (from Prints)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Candies

Halloween Hat 1 SEP2013

What To Do:

1. Pick up your materials from Prints. As with the selection of frames and paper, Prints has a pretty collection of ribbons to choose from. Since I am planning to make small 3″ hats, I have selected thin orange and black ribbons as embellishment. I also found this sheet of cool gold stars sticker.

2. Cut out 2 circles, they can be the same size, but it really depends on how tall and wide you want your hat to be. Further cut up 1 of the circles as shown in the diagram above.

3. Taking the piece that is about 1/3 of a circle, make a cone using double-sided tape.

4. At the bottom of the cone, make little slits all around as shown in the diagram above.

5. Once you are done with the slits, fold them in as shown.

6. If you wish, you can pop a piece of candy inside your hat. Next, put pieces of double-sided tape at the bottom.

7. Stick your cone onto the other piece of circle paper. Again using double-sided tape, add your ribbon.

8. Lastly, embellish with gold star stickers.

We hope that you like our Halloween Signage and Paper Witch Hats. There are actually so many awesome materials available at Prints, that we have also made a Halloween ribbons basket as well as origami-style candy wrappers! Here are the tutorials. Have a spooky and sweet Trick or Treat this year!
